We went to see "Enchanted" over the weekend. It was a pretty decent movie (I'd definitely give it a B+) - Eric and I liked it more than the girls though. Check out a trailer for it...

(once again, I've temporarily turned off the background music on the site so you can enjoy the movie trailer - if you'd rather listen to the music, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the arrow button on the player - I'll turn the music back on tomorrow.)

The movie starts out as an animated movie with all the usual Disney Princess kind of stuff. Princess Giselle is about to marry her Prince, when she is sent to the real world by an evil queen. The Princess meets a very cynical divorce lawyer played by Patrick Dempsey. We watch as the Prince searches New York for his Princess.

The movie has bits from several other Disney Movies:

The cheesey motel the Prince stays at is called the "Grand Duke" which is a character from Cinderella.

The name of the couple getting divorced are the Banks (the couple from Mary Poppins).

A lady in Central Park asks the Princess if she want to feed the birds for "just a dollar a bag" which is from Mary Poppins (except they use the word "tuppins" in the original).

Patrick Dempsey and Giselle go for a ride in a rowboat (a la "Little Mermaid").

When Giselle visits Patrick Dempsey's law firm, she is looking at a fish tank while the music in the background is playing "Part of Your World" from "The Little Mermaid".

There are lots more similarities - but I won't give them all away - check out the movie for yourself - It's a fun way to spend a weekend afternoon.
