Weight Loss Wednesday!

It's finally here....our first official Weight Loss Wednesday!

I thought I'd start out by telling you what things I've started doing to aid in my weight loss. I didn't start out full-bore on the 1st partly because I was away on vacation and partly because I've found (through flylady) that babysteps will get you where you want to be, maybe not as fast, but if you're anything like me - you will crash and burn if you try to start out full-bore because you'll quickly become overwhelmed.

These are the things I've started as habits for this week:

1. Increase my intake of Omega-3 fatty acids (I've been reading lots about how 6,000mg of Omega-3's per day can really help with weight loss - but I'm not sure yet I want to go just that high as I've also read some other things that say it might be just a little too much. So I'm going to err on the side of caution and go with, say, like 4,000mg). Just be sure you pick a supplement that is purified (or molecularly distilled) as many are not and you don't want mercury or contaminants in your body - Costco has a good, affordable supplement and Nordic Naturals makes some really great ones (not quite as affordable - BUT they have lemon or strawberry essence added to them so you NEVER get the dreaded "fish-oil burp" - if you've ever had it, you know exactly what I mean - eeewww!).

2. Be sure to get my 8 glasses of water in per day. Sometimes this is easy for me, and sometimes I really struggle and don't do it, but I'm going to make a concerted effort to get that water in my body even if I don't really want to because I can really tell when I haven't.

3. I've totally eliminated all sodas from my diet. High-Fructose Corn Syrup is so terribly awful for you body anyway (one of those "fake foods" your body doesn't really know what to do with). I don't really care for diet sodas (yes, even the ones made with splenda just aren't quite "right") so why put all that artificial stuff in my body if I'm not even going to really enjoy it? I've made the switch to basically water, iced tea (unsweetened - my favorite way), and juices (but I'm trying to go light on those because of calories).

Those are my babysteps for the week. I had planned to add some Wii exercise in, but the sports disk that came with the player was defective & I'm waiting for the new one to get here from Nintendo - maybe next week.

Here's my weight loss friendly product review for the week:

Progresso Light Soups
My favorite is Southwestern-Style Vegetable. It boasts six different garden vegetables, hearty black beans and plenty of spice (a good way to get a few servings of veggies in!) It only has 60 calories per serving and counts as 0 (yes, I did say 0!) Weight Watchers points!

Progresso even has a great recipe to make with it: Chicken Enchilada Casserole sounds pretty tasty and it's healthy too!

I'm going to wrap up Weight Loss Wednesday with an inspirational quote:

One Small Step at a Time
You will reach your goal for sure if you break a complicated task into small actionable steps. Do just one step at a time. To get started, choose something you know you can do easily. That can get the ball rolling for getting more done. These small steps will get you where you need to go.

Good luck to all - please leave me a comment!! (please, please, please!) Weight Loss Wednesday will be back next week.

Nice. I like the way you listed the steps... small steps make a distance (from a 70's song)

I take a tea. of Carlson's fish oil lemon flavored at bedtime... it's supposed to help the complexion, weight loss would be a bonus.
