Weight Loss Wednesday

Welcome to Pink Lemonade's fifth Weight Loss Wednesday!

I'll start off by telling you that as of today, I have lost two more pounds for a total of five. My heart seems to be doing well, beating much more slowly than before and I've started some fairly easy pilates. So, on we'll march...

As you all know, I'm a huge fan of Leanne Ely, The Dinner Diva at Saving Dinner. She has put out a new video on YouTube showing us all how to make her famous smoothies, check it out at YouTube (I would have embedded the video directly onto my post but this feature has been disabled for this video). If you're a fan of Leanne's too, listen to her live this morning on Blogtalk Radio at 12:00pm Eastern / 9:00am Pacific. There's even a chat you can join in on - it's lots of fun and you'll learn a few things too!

Now that you know how to make the perfect smoothie, why don't you try something from the "C" fruit and veggie list to put into it! Cactus Leaves (I'm not exactly sure what to do with these, but they're a veggie!), Caimito or Star Apple in season, Cantaloupe, Canistel (egg fruit), Caluiflower, Celeriac (celery root), Chayote Squash, Cherimoya, Chinese Broccoli, Chinese Long Beans and Chinese Cabbage (in honor of chinese new year!), Clementines (small orange-like citrus), Coconut, Custard Apple....There, did that give you enough "C" choices??

Here are Pink Lemonade's weight loss friendly foods of the week:

VitaBrownie, Deep & Velvety Chocolate
PER SERVING (1 brownie): 100 calories, 2g fat, 120mg sodium, 23g carbs, 6g fiber, 8g sugars, 4g protein -- POINTS® value 1*

Description: A large, chunky, nut-topped brownie.

Pros: Beautiful, moist, gigantic. This one's the most appealing and impressive-looking by far. And while some carby, chocolatey treats leave you feeling hungry for more, this brownie's VERY satisfying. It's high in fiber and has lots of vitamins. It's also super-low in fat.

Cons: If you don't like walnuts, you're out of luck (although you might like the Dark Chocolate Pomegranate version Vita makes -- no nuts there). Also, it tastes like healthy cake more than a fudgy brownie, so it may not be quite chocolatey or chewy enough if you want a really gooey brownie fix.

Overall assessment: We LOVE this brownie for so many reasons. It's huge, good for you (more nutritional bang for your calorie buck), and VERY satisfying. But again, it does taste a little more like cake than a brownie. - courtesy of Hungry

Quaker Mini Delights, Buttered Popcorn
PER SERVING (1 bag): 90 calories, 3g fat, 180mg sodium, 15g carbs, 1g fiber, 0g sugars, 1g protein -- POINTS® value 2*

These taste JUST LIKE... Cheez Doodles! Even though these airy little crunchies are supposed to be flavored like buttered popcorn, they definitely taste a bit cheesy to us. And the combo of light airiness and slightly cheese-flavored powdered coating reminds us of delicious cheese puffs (or Cheez Doodles!). Yum! These pre-portioned snacks are definitely lower in calories and fat than cheese puffs, and we're able to control ourselves around 'em and stick with just one bag. Woohoo! - courtesy of Hungry

Here's this week's movitational "moment":

"Your body is the baggage you must carry through life. The more excess the baggage, the shorter the trip" - Arnold H. Glasgow

Soooo...What are we going to do this week?? Drink our water....Continue with our Omega-3's....No sugary drinks...exercise and try having a smoothie for breakfast - you'll love them!...Good Luck and leave a comment to let me know how you're doing with your weight loss efforts!
