Of Magic and Pasta...

..."Life is a combination of magic and pasta" ~ Fellini

Who doesn't love pasta? It's so versatile, you can bake it, boil it.. even fry it. There are a thousand different sauces you can top it with.. or you can top it with nothing at all. Here are some super cute pastas that I found recently:

Farfalla
Mother in Law's Tounge
Somberoni

These are all available from The Pasta Catalog

They would be perfect dressed with something light like olive oil and chopped fresh tomato and basil (so you can still see all the pretty little colors!)

For the kids, I also found these great shapes:
Flamingo Pasta
Horsin' Around Pasta
Dance, Dance, Dance Pasta

These are all available (along with dozens and dozens of other shapes) at the Pasta Shoppe.

Lately, I've been getting really sneaky with my cooking because not only my kids, but Mr. Pink Lemonade also really need to get more veggies in. Of course, they refuse to just eat them (that would be way too easy) so I kind of "stealth" them in! This is my latest concoction....

1 Jar Ragu Pasta Sauce (preferably organic)
1 12oz can V-8 Juice
2 3.5oz containers Mixed Veggie Stage 1 Baby Food (if you think you can get away with 4 - go for it!)
1 Tablespoon Sugar
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon Onion Powder
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
Black Pepper to taste
1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese

Empty Spaghetti Sauce into a large saucepan. Add remaining ingredients (except cheese) bring to a simmer on Medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer on low for approximately 30 minutes. Mix in Parmesan cheese just before serving. Serve over your favorite pasta.

You might try to sneak in some peeled finely grated zucchini or carrot - if you don't think your kiddo will call you on it - mine would!

When made with the two tubs of mixed veggies - I guarantee it will be undetectable (believe me, if it tasted different, Mr. Pink Lemonade would have said something!)

So give it a try! Grab a fun new pasta shape (Lately I've even seen Disneys "Cars" and "Mickey & Friend" pasta in the supermarket), and don't forget Dreamfields Pasta (with a super-low carb count- tastes just like regular pasta). Top it with your family's favorite sauce (or be super sneaky and try mine). Enjoy... Life's too short not to eat Pasta!
