Happy Memorial Day

Today, is in the US, Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, it is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. I thought I'd share with you a very famous poem in tribute to all of those who have lost their lives for our freedom...

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thank you for posting In Flanders Fields, its a beautiful poem. I am Canadian, but I am still keeping all of our men and women past and present in my best thoughts today. I have one of my own in Afghanistan right now. I wish you a good Memorial Day.
