You've heard them mentioned everywhere lately... MUFA's, or monounsaturated fats. They're the healthy fats that our bodies need to function properly. Many studies have recently revealed that a diet rich in MUFA's can help rid you of that pesky (and quite unhealthy) belly fat better than the old low-fat/high carb ones can.
Your new weight loss campaign slogan should become "A MUFA at Every Meal". By adding MUFA's to every meal, you will keep the level of "good fats" steady, which will, in turn, keep you feeling satisfied throughout the day. These good fats do more than just make you feel full longer, your vital organs need these "good fats" to function properly.
What foods are considered MUFA's? Well, here's a list of just a few:
- Olives (including olive oil)
- Flax and Sunflower Oils
- Almonds, Peanuts, Macadamia Nuts, Seeds (including butters made from these as long as they are made from only the nuts - nothing hydrogenated!)
- Dark Chocolate
These are just a quick example of foods that are high in monounsaturated fats. Can you see how easy it would be to add a MUFA to every meal?
Of course, you cannot just eat any old thing you want and add a few peanuts to your meal - that, obviously, will not show you any results. But, by making healthy meal choices, trying to limit your calories to around 1,600 per day (4 meals / 400 calories per meal) and making sure each meal includes a MUFA, you should see some pleasing results the next time you step on a scale.
So... The next time you hear people walking around with signs, chanting phrases - just picture them with signs that read MUFA's!! and imagine them chanting "A MUFA at Every Meal!"
