Santa Never Came...

Add to Mixx!

The other day in the mail, we received a postcard from a local Real Estate Office - no, they didn't want to sell our house, they were bringing Santa to our street. It read:

Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Santa in his Hopper along with his Elves
will be in your neighborhood
Passing out Candy Canes

When: Thursday, December 11th from 6pm-8pm

This is a unique opportunity for your neighborhood only!

If you would like a special visit from Santa, please call (xxx) xxx-xxxx with your address by 4pm Thursday Dec. 11th

The elves will knock on your front door to let you know when Santa has arrived on your street. If you come outside, Santa will be handing our candy canes and hearing your child's Christmas wishes.

... Awesome, the girls would love it! I promptly called the office (on the 10th!) and let them know that I would love for Santa to come by our house. They ask what our address is and the names of the girls - they say they'll be there.

So, this afternoon, I tell the girls that I heard on the news that Santa might be in the neighborhood checking to make sure that kids are behaving themselves and maybe they will get to see him. The girls were so excited!

They took their baths early and ate all of their dinner. Collette even dressed up her baby doll and put on her Santa hat in anticipation of her meeting with the Big Guy. The girls waited... and waited... and waited... and Santa never came.

Poor little Collette, sitting there doll in hand, Santa hat on her head, asking over and over again when Santa would be there - But. He. Never. Came.

The girls fought to keep their eyes open until 8pm, and finally, disappointed they drug themselves to bed.

Don't promise something like that if you're not going to come through - Thank you, Real Estate Office for making my kids think that they can't depend upon Santa - Oh, and by the way... I hope you don't expect me to recommend you to anyone I know who is buying or selling a home in our fair city.

Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry that they never showed. How lousy!

Reading it brought tears to my eyes. I can only imagine the dissapointment. I hope you called to complain!
