Having faced the struggles of being a single father, as seen by millions of viewers this past season on ABC’s “The Bachelor,” Jason Mesnick will fulfill a promise to relaunch his website, Jason’s Place (www.JasonsPlace.com) on the night of July 20, with the aim of offering the definitive social networking community for single parents across the U.S.
Mesnick, who also maintains social media pages on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, decided to transform his personal website into an online community for single parents after receiving an outpouring of feedback from others facing similar challenges. “Our goal is to build a community through our shared experiences as single parents,” says Mesnick. “A place to learn, share, and gain an even better appreciation for the greatest joys in our lives – our children.”
The new, dynamic Jason’s Place allows users to register for free, create a personal profile, upload photos and videos, post blog entries and otherwise share aspects of their lives. They can connect with others by creating/joining groups and discussion forums, participating in chats (public or private), and posting/discovering local single-parenting events. Jason’s Place will also feature a channel with ongoing webisodes that spotlight a breadth of single parents and how they deal with their particular challenges.
Jason’s Place will review parent/child products and provide advice, links and other resources in such areas as Family Fun, Support, Finances, Health and Legal, connecting with professionals and organizations to provide help to site members. It will also offer regular contests, starting with an all-expenses-paid trip to New Zealand for two for “the most deserving single parent” who uploads a short video.
Mesnick, “The Bachelor’s” first single dad, lives in Seattle with his four-year-old son, Ty, and continues to date Molly Malaney.
