New Yoga Retreats at Atlantic Hotel in Fort Lauderdale

The Atlantic Hotel and Spa Has Introduced a Series of Summer/Fall 'Spirit' Retreats

Spa Atlantic, the 10,000-square-foot luxury spa at The Atlantic Hotel, has teamed with well-known Fort Lauderdale-based yoga instructor Melanie Camp to offer a series of four Spirit Retreats, from July through October 2009, priced from $499*.

The comprehensive, two-day retreats are designed to spiritually transport the mind, body and soul to a choice of exotic locales, including the Orient, Mediterranean, India and Arabia and include overnight accommodation in a Grand Deluxe Oceanfront room, full schedule of yoga sessions, Mini Journey at Spa Atlantic, lunch at Ocean Terrace ($20), dinner at Trina ($50) and 30 percent discount on any additional spa services. Extra room nights are $169, based on availability. Taxes and gratuities are not included.

Melanie Camp is a certified Level II and Level III instructor, proficient in Hatha Yoga, Hot Vinyasa and the Barkan method. A member of the Yoga Alliance, she is a certified Instructor for seniors and an associate trainer for YogaKids International. Camp taught yoga in Asia as part of the CARE International delegation following the 2004 Tsunami and participated in the 2005 Caribbean 1500 sailboat rally, teaching yoga on board and while on various islands. She has also assisted at yoga retreats in Europe, South America and throughout the U.S.

Each Spirit Retreat includes a welcoming ritual after check-in on Friday afternoon, followed by dinner at the hotel's award-winning restaurant. On Saturday, a full morning schedule includes a power walk on the beach, followed by sunrise yoga, the practice and teaching of Mudrasm (hand postures), and belly dancing and/or drumming Sound Therapy.

After al fresco lunch poolside, participants indulge in a Mini Journey, a signature Spa Atlantic experience that includes a choice of two services, including body wrap, massage, facial and manicure or pedicure. At sunset, Camp leads a stretch and meditation, followed by a farewell ritual.

Locals can also participate in Spirit Retreats. For $290, they enjoy all activities, except for the overnight accommodations and dinner. However, complimentary valet parking is included.

The four Spirit Retreats with Melanie Camp are scheduled as follows:
* July 17-18: Oriental Breathe
* Aug. 15-16: Mediterranean Release
* Sept. 25-26: Indian Replenish
