I have a great life and am very happy about it. If you’re not satisfied with your life, don’t think you’re stuck in your current situation. I live in Lake Tahoe, CA because I love the natural beauty and all of the outdoor activities. I love the fact that when I’m not working, I can pursue my hobbies out my back door. I talk with too many friends and acquaintances that say, “Oh, I wish I was doing that or I should change jobs, etc.” What are you waiting for? Life only goes around once, so if you want to do something different, go make it happen.
I love activity, and as I mentioned before, I live in a place that is full of recreational opportunities. But that might not be what you love. If you live for an active social scene, move to a city. If you miss your family, move close to home. Furthermore, don’t get into the negative mindset that you can’t have fun where you are. I’ve been all over the map, and you can always find something fun to do no matter where you are.
Like your job
Money isn’t everything, but it certainly doesn’t hurt and it’s a necessity for most of us. At the current moment I work some part-time jobs to help pay the bills, but I’m working hard to be more self-employed. I currently run a website that sells hackysacks and another that sells lacrosse gear and while these don’t generate enough income yet, I’m working towards my eventual goal of being able to work wherever I can get Internet access. I have entrepreneurial aspirations and I’m pursuing them. If you hate your job, you need to look into a change. Maybe it can’t happen right away, but it needs to happen eventually. Your job should be doing something that you love or at least can be proud of.
Surround yourself with good people
Friends and significant others are important. Surround yourself with positive, happy people and it will rub off on you. The good times we share with friends are some of the best. A fun moment can be good, but that same moment shared with friends becomes great.
Have a goal or something to look forward to
In general, constantly work towards life goals. Think of who you want to be and take the steps necessary to get there. Maybe a goal isn’t a life plan, but something like a vacation. Especially if you’re “stuck” in your present situation, give yourself something to look forward to. If what makes you happy is going scuba diving, or skiing, plan a trip so you can work towards that end goal. If you know that 4 months down the road you’ll be doing what you love, you’ll feel more focused and motivated in the present.
