Kickstart a healthy diet during National Soy Foods Month

April is National Soy Foods Month and we would love to introduce you to House Foods America (, the premium tofu purveyor and specialist since 1983.

The perfect way to celebrate National Soy Foods Month and kick-start healthier summer eating habits is by exploring the various ways to cook soy products, such as House Foods’ selection of Premium Tofu products that are made with non-genetically modified (non-GMO) soybeans grown right here in the U.S.  In addition to regular tofu, House Foods also has several varieties of tofu shirataki noodles, a healthy pasta alternative made from blending the root of the Konnyaku, a member of the yam family, and tofu.

House Food’s tofu comes in a variety of firmness levels, ranging from soft to extra firm, making it simple for home-cooks to create lighter (yet equally satisfying) recipes this spring.  Love smoothies?  Then try House Foods’ Tofu Mango Smoothie recipe (below), a velvety drink that blends mango, orange juice, honey, milk, and House Foods Soft (Silken) Tofu into one satisfying and healthy smoothie.

If you’re a grilling fan, use House Foods’ Extra Firm Tofu, which has a firm texture similar to meat.  The House Foods’ Tofu and Tomato Skewers with Herb Sauce recipe (below) is a unique and tasty addition to any spring soiree.

For the perfect side dish, try House Foods’ BLT Pasta Salad recipe (below), created by Hungry Girl, which combines Tofu Shirataki noodles with smoky bacon, sun-dried tomatoes, and chopped scallions.  With only 20 calories per 4 oz serving of House Foods’ Tofu Shirataki, one can indulge in this decadent pasta salad without feeling the guilt!

Cut tofu in cubes in the same size as tomatoes.  Place two tofu cubes and two tomatoes alternately on skewers. Brush tofu with the sauce and grill for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Brush a couple more times until grill mark is shown. Brush tofu again before serving.
