It's National Martini Day!

With the arrival of each Sunday comes a reason to celebrate, but this Sunday there will be more to celebrate as June 19th is National Martini Day!

Legends have been created around the martini, in part because of the historical and fictional figures who enjoyed them, from Winston Churchill, Cary Grant, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, to the fictional James Bond.

With changing times, the Martini has grown and evolved as a reflection of the period in which it is enjoyed. Today, with more attention being paid to green living and eating locally, the modern Martini must bring a smile not only to the drinker, but to Mother Nature too.

Making an eco-friendly Martini is as easy as using local ingredients and the world's only sustainable vodka, 360 Vodka.  Committed to the environment, 360 Vodka is distilled in a state-of-the-art green distillery, uses recycled glass for their bottles, recycled paper, eco-friendly inks and reusable closures that can be returned for a $1.00 donation to Global Green USA.

To celebrate National Martini Day, here are two garden fresh recipes that reflect 2010, are delicious, seasonal, and Mother Nature approved:

360 Bruschetta

2oz 360 Vodka
Juice of half an organic lemon
Juice of half an organic lime
2 tsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
splash of Worcestershire sauce
3 organic cherry tomatoes, sliced
small handful of fresh organic basil, chopped
pinch of freshly ground black pepper
Garnish: organic basil leaf and breadstick

Rim highball glass with black pepper. Drop 2 or 3 cherry tomatoes into the glass as a base. Add 360 Vodka to a cocktail shaker. Combine all other ingredients in a separate bowl. Add mixture to cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake sharply and strain into glass. Enjoy!

360 Triple Melon Soda

2oz 360 Vodka
½ cup Honeydew Melon
½ cup Watermelon
½ cup Cantaloupe

Muddle the melons gently in a cocktail shaker. Add 360 Vodka. Fill with ice. Shake sharply and strain into a martini glass with a melon base. Top with soda and enjoy!
