Unfortunately, it takes a free ticket to a theme park to get people involved in their community sometimes - but hey, whatever it takes.

It appears as though Disney underestimated the response to this offer and, yes, it did run out quickly - but you know the old saying "He who hesitates is lost".

It is my understanding that if you have already signed up through the program (whether you have completed your service or are already scheduled for an upcoming event) your ticket is already reserved for you - so I don't think there is any chance of having already signed up, showing up to do you work and then being told that you're out of luck. (although you should check with guest services or the contact on the give a day site to find out the details)

Last year, all you had to do was turn a year older and you got a free ticket - and they actually extended that offer past the original expiration date so, let's face it - everyone had a chance last year at a free ticket for doing absolutely nothing except being alive.

Disney is always doing something great for its visitors so I'm sure it will just be a matter of time before they have another promotion that can be taken advantage of.Pink Lemonade Lizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08201019933472725238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580969578693605174.post-41334340652799154462010-03-18T17:15:16.638-07:002010-03-18T17:15:16.638-07:00This was poorly planned. Almost a promotional scam, because of the publicity received for such a poorly planned program.

Disney did not anticipate a million people to volunteer, and many more tried to.

Forums are filled with people who couldn’t get into the web sign ups as the servers were overloaded. Even if you “got in”, by the time the organization scheduled your date to volunteer the tickets were gone.

How do you explain this to a bunch of elementary aged children who signed up to volunteer with a promise of a Disney ticket?

Do you have them go do their day of work they signed up for hoping they’ll leave with a good feeling inside, but knowing they won’t because they were promised a ticket? Do you cancel the with organization, and feel terrible for doing that?

Wow Disney, thanks’ for planning this so poorly and setting up a bad situation for so many parents!2Real4Uhttp://flowingclassroom.com/noreply@blogger.com
